2min Stress Management Series (#1) Every Day Aroma Therapy

“Every Day Aroma Therapy,” is my fun name for using your sense of smell with intention to manage stress. BUT I am not an aroma therapist. It’s just a fun name! Using your sense of smell with intention is a super easy, low prep, way to manage your stress. Think about all of the things your nose comes into contact with every day. Everything you come into contact with that has a smell can be used with intention. Think about the smells of your soap, lotions, shampoo, conditioner, hand sanitizer, laundry detergent, anything you put on your body, candles, diffusers, food, drinks, etc. Now, think about how those smells make you feel. Use products with smells that serve a purpose for you! As a result of using your sense of smell with intention you will gain the ability to better manage your stress overall and in stressful moments.

Smells for calm, smells for energy, smells for focus!

You can use, “every day aroma therapy, ” to find smells to help you feel calm, energized and focused. Here’s a video to Make Your Own Oil Diffuser. All you need is a container, reeds and essential oils. You can also use essential oils to make a scented lotion. By adding just a couple drops of an oil at a time to an unscented lotion until you get the scent strength that you want. These are great because you can take them out into your day with you to help with both stressful situations and with managing the overall existence of stress. By doing so, you can use your sense of smell with intention to proactively manage stress and anxiety.

*Here’s a tip for using essential oils to make a diffuser or a scented lotion. Purchase oils that clearly state what is in them and be careful of skin irritations and scent sensitivities. Essential oils are strong, use them sparingly.

Using your sense of smell with intention through, “every day aroma therapy,” can help you shape your day! Find ways to take those helpful smells out into the world with you and start proactively managing your stress and anxiety!
